Rhythmic Gymnastics
Rhythmic Gymnastics is a female-only Olympic discipline that combines elements of gymnastics, dance, and calisthenics. Athletes perform expressive routines on a floor mat, choreographed to music, while manipulating one of five hand-held apparatus: Hoop, Ball, Clubs, Ribbon, or Rope. The sport is characterized by extreme flexibility, graceful pivots, and intricate apparatus handling, emphasizing elegance, rhythm, and artistic expression.
Acrobatic Gymnastics
Acrobatic Gymnastics is a competitive discipline where partners work together to perform routines consisting of acrobatic moves, dance, and tumbling, all set to music. Unlike other disciplines that use apparatus, the athletes themselves serve as the equipment, performing human balances, pyramids, and dynamic tosses. The sport emphasizes trust, strength, and precision, featuring 'bases' who provide support and 'flyers' who perform breathtaking aerial skills and balancing acts.
General Gymnastics
General Gymnastics, also known as Gymnastics for All, is a non-competitive discipline designed for individuals of all ages, sizes, and skill levels. It focuses on the fundamental movements of gymnastics—including jumping, rolling, and balancing—to promote physical fitness, health, and social interaction. The primary goal is participation and fun, allowing everyone to enjoy the benefits of gymnastics in a creative and inclusive environment without the pressure of formal competition.
